Es indiscutible que Filipinas es uno de los países más bonitos del mundo y es que sus más de 7.000 islas tropicales colmadas de playas vírgenes e increíbles, la naturaleza exuberante y la amabilidad de los filipinos, garantizan el éxito del viaje.
En particular, las islas de Panglao y Palawan, hicieron que este viaje fuera un tesoro para mi. Lo cierto es que superaron todas mis expectativas.
Tras 15 días en la maravillosa isla de Bali aterrizamos en la capital de Cebu con muchísimas ganas de aventura y sin ningún tipo de plan ni atadura. La mejor opción era ir directos a lo que pensábamos que eran los mejores lugares de Filipinas, aunque es complicado porque hay cientos de ellos.
Nuestra primera parada fue en la Isla Panglao, ubicada al suroeste de Bohol y al este de Cebú. Es uno de los mejores destinos de Filipinas, pero por suerte apenas habían turistas.
Me fascinaron sus impresionantes arrecifes de coral, su arena blanca y sus puntos de buceo. Tuvimos la oportunidad de alquilar una típica barca filipina privada con guías locales que nos llevaron a las hermosas Islas Vírgenes y Balicasag, donde pudimos ver delfines, bucear a través del extenso arrecife de coral con sus miles de especies y nadar con tortugas, lo que fue una de las experiencias más increíbles de toda mi vida! Inolvidable.
A pesar de las actividades turísticas que se ofrecen en la Isla de Bohol, como las Colinas de Chocolate, el Santuario de Tarsíes o las Cascadas Mag-Aso, nosotros decidimos alejarnos de los turistas, aunque fueran muy pocos. Alquilamos una moto y nos recorrimos la isla de punta a punta en ambas direcciones a través de extensiones inmensas de palmeras cocoteras que nos llevaban hasta remotas playas perdidas llenas de tesoros como conchas enormes, trozos de coral y otras reliquias tan exóticas para nosotros. Parecíamos niños recorriendo las orillas sin ninguna prisa con tal de encontrar la mejor pieza. De hecho volvimos a casa con casi 4kg de más.
Nuestro destino final fue lo que muchos llaman “La joya de Filipinas”, El Nido. Está situado en el norte de Palawan.
Este lugar es una idílica escapada al fabuloso Archipiélago de Bacuit.
El Nido es perfecto para aquellos que buscan playas magníficas en un entorno virgen al que sólo se puede llegar en barco o kayak, como la playa Seven Comando.
Tuvimos de nuevo la oportunidad de alquilar una barca con un guía local que nos deleitó con una maravillosa ruta por las increíbles lagunas e islas colindantes como Snake Island. El lugar que más me gustó fue la Laguna Secreta, nada menos que el cielo en la Tierra.
Se puede sentir la serenidad de un entorno exótico, tan bello en la naturaleza. Terminamos la jornada con una barbacoa en la barca de pescado local, inmejorable.
El Nido es un lugar para vivir una temporada y reflexionar, apenas teníamos señal telefónica o electricidad para distraernos e incluso tomar una ducha caliente fue algo que ni se nos pasó por la cabeza.
Nunca olvidaré a la gente local que hizo que nuestra experiencia fuera inolvidable.
Sin duda, recomiendo un viaje a Filipinas, incluso si viajas con un presupuesto bajo.
Viajar es una forma de crecer y abrir nuevos horizontes. Te hace sentir vivo y libre, no sólo física sino mentalmente. Es una vía de escape y a la vez de encuentro con la pureza de uno mismo. Es un cambio drástico de forma de vivir donde nada es lo que nosotros consideramos normal. Es otro mundo, otra cultura y otra forma de apreciar las cosas.
Sin duda el viaje que lo cambió todo, y por mucho que lo intente, un viaje inexplicable que espero que muchos de vosotros podáis llegar a experimentar.

It is indisputable that the Philippines is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and its more than 7,000 tropical islands full of virgin and incredible beaches, the exuberant nature and the kindness of the Filipinos, guarantee the success of the trip. In particular, the islands of Panglao and Palawan made this trip a treasure for me. The truth is that they surpassed all my expectations.
After 15 days in the wonderful island of Bali we landed in the capital of Cebu with much desire of adventure and without any type of plan or tie. The best option was to go straight to what we thought were the best places in the Philippines, although it is complicated because there are hundreds of them.
Our first stop was Panglao Island, located southwest of Bohol and east of Cebu. It’s one of the top destinations in the Philippines, but actually, it wasn’t that crowded at all.
I was fascinated by its stunning coral reefs, white sand and dive spots. We had the opportunity to rent a private boat with local guides who took us to the gorgeous Virgin Islands and Balicasag, where we could swim with turtles. That was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Unforgettable.
Despite the tourist activities offered on Bohol Island, such as the Chocolate Hills, the Tarsies Sanctuary or the Mag-Aso Waterfalls, we decided to stay away from the tourists, even if they were very few. We rented a motorcycle and toured the island from end to end in both directions through immense extensions of coconut palms that took us to remote lost beaches full of treasures such as huge shells, pieces of coral and other relics so exotic for us. We looked like children walking along the shores with no rush so we could find the best piece. In fact we went home with almost 4kg more.
Our final destination was “The Jewel of The Philippines”, El Nido. It’s located in the north of Palawan. This place is an idyllic getaway to the fabulous Bacuit Archipiélago.
El Nido is perfect for those who are looking for magnificent beaches in an unspoiled setting which can only be reached by boat or kayak, like Seven Comando Beach.
Again we had the opportunity to rent a boat with a local guide who delighted us with a wonderful route through the incredible lagoons and adjoining islands like Snake Island. The place I liked the most was the Secret Lagoon, nothing less than the sky on Earth. You can f eel the serenity of an exotic environment, so beautiful in nature. We ended the day with a local fish barbecue on the boat, unbeatable.
El Nido is a place to live for a while and meditate. We barely had a telephone signal or electricity to distract us and even take a hot shower was something that never crossed our minds.
I will never forget the local people who made our experience unforgettable.
I highly recommend a trip to the Philippines, even if you travel on a low budget. Traveling is a way to grow and open new horizons. It makes you feel alive and free, not only physically but mentally. It is an escape and at the same time an encounter with the purity of oneself. It is a drastic change of way of living where nothing is what we consider normal. It is another world, another culture and another way of appreciating things.
Undoubtedly the journey that changed everything, and no matter how hard I try, an unexplainable journey that I hope many of you can get to experience.
