“I feel very honored to be in the company of these wonderful women, many of whom have inspired me countless times with their own stories. I can’t wait to help create a positive impact as part of the VS collective.” Hailey Bieber for VS Collective.
Yes, as you read, Hailey Bieber is the latest addition to the new group of women who will be the Victoria’s Secret ambassadors and who are already replacing the famous angels. This group was presented in June of this year, where they gave clues about the new actions that the firm will carry out with the change of image they have undergone.
The VS Collective is made up of women in various disciplines who will collaborate with the firm in advertising campaigns, business agreements and initiatives to support social causes. Until now, the members of this group were Adut Akech (refugee, mental health advocate and model), Amanda De Cadenet (journalist, photographer, founder of Girlgaze and defender of equality), Eileen Gu (world champion of free skiing , advocate for young women in sports and model), Megan Rapinoe (LGBT + activist, advocate for equal pay and professional soccer player), Paloma Elsesser (body positive advocate, content creator and model), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (actress, producer and businesswoman) and Valentina Sampaio (LGBT + activist, actress and model).
With this change what they seek is to adhere to the values of today’s society, being inclusive with all body types, as well as equality and empowerment of women, not only in terms of aesthetics and physicality. Why now? The truth is that no one who is not part of Victoria’s Secret can know for sure, but what we do know is that the firm has been involved in controversy for abuse of its models; Former Marketing Director Ed Razek did not help brand image after some unfortunate statements about transgender people shortly after the last show in 2018; and the growing competition in the lingerie market with brands like Savage x Fenty that offer garments for bodies of all kinds, unlike what Victoria’s Secret offered in its catalog until recently.
InStyle magazine has had the opportunity to speak with the protagonist who has commented that she is very excited to be part of this group “it is being incredible to be part of a group of women who help promote the future of the brand while continuing to defend all women”. For her part, Janie Schaffer, director of Victoria’s Secret, commented on Hailey that “her authenticity and her commitment to stay true to herself is inspiring. We look forward to working with her in our effort to connect with all women and drive positive change”.
To celebrate this new union, the firm launched the first campaign with Hailey Bieber, consisting of several sets of silk lingerie with lace and leopard print, however we are sorry to tell you that this collection sold out in a matter of hours. But Victoria’s Secret has already announced that there are still things that have to come to light, so if you do not want to miss anything, we recommend that you pay attention to their social networks.
