Pantone, the company destinated to create a color identification, comparison and communication system for the graphic arts, every year is prepared to predict which will be the colour of the year.
In 2019 was the living coral and in 2020 the classic blue. But this year is not one, but two are the chosen colors of the year, which will not be worn independently, will be combined together. The colors that have been officially selected by the company are: Ultimate Gray (PANTONE 17-5104) and Yellow Illuminating (PANTONE 13-0647).

This annual selection of colors leads us to that psychological theory of colors, which says that each color conveys a feeling. Together they form a perfect combination of strength and optimism. Gray gives us that feeling of strength, durability and reflexive as well. While yellow infuses us with joy, possibility and gratitude, just like a sunny day. The union of these colors, which from Pantone remind us that they must always go together, has a powerful and solid balance. This combination wants to reflect that together we are stronger.
Leatrice Eiseman, director of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “The union of Ultimate Gray with Illuminating Yellow expresses a message of positivity supported by strength. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warm and upbeat, this is a color combination that gives us strength and hope. We need to feel encouraged, this is essential for the human being.”

Also insiders like Leonie Hanne who has always proven to be a lover of bright colors, has opted for the selection of Leatrice Eiseman.
Like Vogue Spain, who has opted for this color combination for its February cover starring Jill Kortleve.
There are already many designers and insiders who bet on this color combination; Jacquemus, Balmain, Givenchy or Gucci are many of the houses that have shown the approval of this trend in their Spring / Summer 2021 collections.
